CLIMB A TREE

The other day my boy and I
Went out to
climb a tree.
We found one right beside the house.
It was his
first, you see.
I set him on the lowest branch.
He clung
with hands and knees.
Soon he relaxed and looked around,
But not
with too much ease.
My buddy asked if I could climb
"The
tree up to the top."
I said "Why not." and climbed way up,
Until he
yelled out "Stop!"
When we came down we laughed alot.
He said,
"You are the best."
I said "Someday you'll climb like me",
And held
him to my breast.
When I am old and he's like me,
Will he
remember when,
His dad was strong and he was proud,
That summer
way back then?
